MEIJA
NorseGaels Meija
Meija (May-YA) is a wonderful dog! She loves everyone she meets and greets them like they are her long lost friend. She has a heart of gold and is a fabulous mother to her puppies.
Meija is a very smart dog and learns quickly what it is you want from her. She is a calm temperament and is never in a hurry but always up for our adventures. She lives with us and is a deep part of our lives. She has deep compassion instincts that allow her to be there for people before they even realized they needed her love.
She loves to be in the water! I know she is watching over my children when we go swimming but she just plays along side us and never hovers.
She is super snugly, loves hugs, and often finds someway to always be near us and/or touching us. Meija climbs in our rain barrels every day till they freeze over in winter. She loves to just get good and wet and then gives us those big puppy-dog-eyes wanting to come inside.
She gets really playful at the first snow of every year and loves to leap in snowdrifts before she sleeps on them.
Meija has phenomenal hips and scored really well on her PENN Hip test with a distraction index of 0.36 and 0.28.
(If you are unfamiliar with reading this score then know that this puts her roughly in the top 95% of all Newfoundlands)
Mejia is a phenomenal mother!
She cares so much for her puppies and watches over them while also not concerned at all when a child (mine or a neighbor) picks up and cuddles one of her pups. She is amazing to watch play soft with the puppies when they are tiny and play rougher with them as they age. The puppies love to be around Meija and snuggle in.
She also is so silly with her “push-over-mom” tendencies.
I see it the most right now as I am training (two of her puppies) Fergus and Laijla.
Meija will try to “discreetly” give her dog treats to her puppies all the time. She will make a face similar to a whistling cartoon character up to something and then slowly push her treat out of the side of her mouth by her puppies who notice it immediately. She then will happily sit watch them as they eat her treats excitedly in front of her. :D
Her gentle empathetic nature makes me smile and love her all the more.

She had four males and 3 females!
One Landseer male, one female with some white markings, and the rest are perfectly jet black!
These puppies are ridiculously snugly! They are so calm and cuddly!

Meija is the dam of our current puppies! She had 7 beautiful puppies born November 21, 2020. She had six boys and one female. These puppies are very smart, have great temperaments, and gentle natures.
